There is one word that describes Italy best and that is ‘Belissima’.
It is hard to think of another country in the world that has the same breadth and depth of history, art, culture, geographic beauty, romance, charm, cuisine, the list goes on and on.
Italy has a population of approximately 58 million citizens and the capital is Rome, the ancient seat of the Roman Empire.
This famously boot shaped country is divided into twenty regions, including its two major islands of Sardinia and Sicily, each with their own customs, cuisine, topography and even dialects.
Holidaying in some of Italy’s most well known cities of Rome, Venice and Florence are popular although there are numerous other places worth visiting including Turin, Verona, Pisa, Siena, Naples, Bologna, Capri, Genoa, Como amongst others.
However the variety of locations on offer makes Italy a destination that inevitably leads to more than one visit. Apart from checking out the cultural sites you can also go skiing in the Dolomites or Alps, relax on the hundreds of beaches perhaps on the Amalfi Coast or Calabria, visit the stunning lakes of Garda, Como and Maggiore, or maybe wine tasting in the vineyards of picturesque Tuscany.
